Born in 1986, Aaron McCoullough is a drummer, composer, educator, and bandleader based in Melbourne, Australia. He has recorded and toured internationally with many renowned musical practitioners resulting in several awards. As an ensemble leader, McCoullough has two self-released titles: 'Portrait of Thoughts' (2013) and 'Provenience' (2018). In review of the latest title, Barry O'Sullivan (Fine Music Magazine) describes McCoullough’s performance as "technically superb" and the offering a "class act with first-rate musicianship." McCoullough holds a Bachelor of Music with Honours, a Masters of Education, a Graduate Certificate in Research, and a PhD in Creative Arts. The endorsement of international drum manufacturers Los Cabos Drumsticks (Canada) and Sakae Drums (Japan) has continued to set McCoullough as a leading practitioner in the field of improvised music.
